To Recite Salat-o-Salam Upon the Holy Prophet Salallahu Tala Alaihi Wasallam

It is completely within the Shari'ah to recite Salutations and Blessings upon Allah's Messenger (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as is evident in the following Quranic verse: "Undoubtedly, Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet (the Communicator of Unseen News), O you who believe! Send upon him blessings and salute him fully well in abundance". (Surah al-Ahzab, Verse 56)
Here, in the above verse, Allah Taala at the very outset attributed Salawat (recital of blessings) on our Beloved Nabi Hazrat Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), first to Himself (Sunnat-i-Ilaahi), then to His Angels (Sunnat-i-Malaa'ika), and after this enjoined on the Muslims (Sunnat-i-Mu'mineen) to do the same.
It is stated in the commentary of the Qur'aan, "Tafseer-i-Rooh al-Bayaan": "Some 'Ulama are of the opinion that the meaning of Allah's blessing is to raise Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to Maqaam-i-Mahmood (Glorious Station), the place from where he will intercede to Almighty Allah on behalf of his Ummat; the Angels' blessing means their prayer for enhancing the position of Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and beseeching forgiveness for his followers. Blessings on the path of the believers means to obey, love and eulogize him."
The honour and reverance shown to Hazrat Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is of a much greater degree than shown to Hazrat Adam (alaihis salaam) to whom only Angels were made to bow down (in honour). For in honouring Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) Allah Taala has also attributed it to Himself, whereas in the case of Hazrat Adam (alaihis salaam) Allah Taala asked only the Angels to show honour.
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Increase your recitation of DUROOD on me on Friday because on this day Angels present themselves to me. There is no servant of Allah who recites SALUTATIONS upon me, except that his voice reaches me from wherever he is". The Companions asked even after your departure? He replied, "Yes after my departure too, because Allah has made it Haraam upon the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets". (Jila-ul Ifhaam)
"On Fridays recite the Salawat for me repeatedly! The Salawat will be conveyed to me." (Ibn Habbaan, Ibn Majah) When it was asked whether the Salawat would be conveyed to him after his Wisaal also, the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) answered, "Soil does not rot Prophets' bodies. Whenever a Muslim says the Salawat for me, an Angel informs me of it and says, 'So-and-so's son, so-and-so of your Ummah sent his Salaam and prayed for you.'"
Allah's Messenger (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) came out and met Hazrat Abu Talha (radi Allahu anhu). The latter rose and went to him saying: "My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah! I see joy and delight in your countenance?" The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: "Yes, for Gabriel has just come to me saying: O Muhammad, whoever among your Community invokes blessings upon you once, Allah records for Him ten meritorious deeds, erases from his register ten evil deeds, and raises him ten degrees because of it." (al-Sakhawi, al-Qawl al-Badi)
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Invoke blessings upon me abundantly on Friday because it is a day that is (particularly) witnessed and the Angels witness it (abundantly). As soon as a person invokes blessings on me his invocation is shown to me until he ends it." Hazrat Abu al-Darda' (radi Allahu anhu) said: "Even after (your) death?" The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied: "Verily, Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of Prophets." (Ibn Majah)
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) says in a Hadith, "Definitely there are many Angels of Allah that sojourn the earth and bring the Salaam of my Ummat to me". (Nisaai; Ibn Habban)
Hazrat 'Abd ar-Rahman bin 'Auf (radi Allahu anhu) says that one day the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) came and entered a date garden. There he performed a very long prostration. Hazrat 'Abd ar-Rahman (radi Allahu anhu) feared that Allah Taala had caused him to leave this world. He drew close to him and began to look at him. The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) raised his holy head from the prostration and asked what had happened to him.
He disclosed his fear to him. At this, the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said that Hazrat Jibra'il (alaihis salaam) asked whether he should not give him glad tidings that Allah Taala said that He would send blessings to the person who recited the Holy Qur'an on him and peace and security to the person who bade Salutations to him. (Ahmad)
These are just a few Ahaadith. It is established beyond any doubt that the recitation of Salawat and Salaam has its origin in the Quran and Hadith. Some people say that it is wrong to send Salaam to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the form of a Naat (Verses in Praise of the Prophet). Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) had amongst his Ashaab, poets who used to refute the slanders of the enemies and eulogize (praise) the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) liked the poetry of Hazrat Hassan ibn Thabit (radi Allahu anhu) the most. He offered the Mimbar to Hazrat Hassan (radi Allahu anhu), who would censure the enemies and praise Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) on the Mimbar. Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) on hearing the poetry of Hazrat Hassan (radi Allahu anhu) prayed, "Allahumma ayyidhu bi rooh hil Qudus!" (O Allah, let the holy spirit (Jibrael) be his helper (in recitation) (Mishkaat)
When Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) made Hijra and entered Madina, the people sang out, "Tala`a al-badru `alayna, Min thaniyyat al-wada`, Wajaba al-shukru `alayna, Ma da`a lillahi da`". Ulama from time immemorial have been writing and reciting Naat and Qasaa'id in Praise of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in a variety of languages.
Some people say that it is wrong to send Salawat and Salaam because those who read Salaam put a chair in the gathering and say that the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is sitting on the chair whilst the Salaam is being read. The curse of Allah is on those liars! No true Muslim has ever done such a thing.

What is Imaan and Kufr?

What is Imaan and Kufr?
Imaan is to accept every word of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as the absolute truth and to testify whole-heartedly the reality and truth of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
One who observes the above would be called a Muslim, that is, if any of his words, actions or conditions does not reject, insult or falsify Allah Taala and His Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
If you reject one aspect, which you know that to believe is part of Islam, then this is Kufr. For example, to reject Qiyamat, Angels, Jannat, Dozakh, Hisab, or not to believe that Salaah, Saum, Zakaah or Hajj is Fardh (obligatory) would make one out of the folds of Islam.
It is also Kufr not to believe that the Holy Quran is the Words of Allah Ta'ala.
To insult the Holy Ka'aba, the Holy Quran, or any of the Prophets or Angels is also Kufr.
To degrade any of the Sunnats (actions of the Holy Prophet sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), to make jokes of the orders of Shari'ah (Islamic law) or to reject or suspect it untrue any known and recognised aspects of Islam is also definitely Kufr.
To be a Muslim you have to, together with faith and belief, also pledge your status as a Muslim.
One must pledge his faith unless there is a difficulty, for example, you cannot speak, or to speak would mean to lose your life or would lose a part of the body, then it is not necessary to pledge your faith with your tongue. However, it is always best and a means of great reward not to say anything against Islam even to save your life.
To perform actions that are signs of Kufr and if you perform them you will be recognised as a Kaafir. For example, to wear a "Janeo" (a sacred thread worn by Hindus), or to have a lock of hair (plats for men) the same as Buddhists have, or to wear a cross are all actions of Kufr.
WHAT ASPECTS MAKES A PERSON A MUSLIM
For a person to become a Muslim it is necessary for him or her to believe Islam as the true religion and not to reject any of it's necessary aspects. A person should also not have beliefs contradictory or against the religion's necessary aspects (Zaroriyaat-e-Deen).
A Muslim must love and respect all those who are the beloved of Allah Taala and His Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) even though that person may be his enemy.
He must disrespect and hate all those who disrespect and hate Allah Taala and His Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) even if that person may be his beloved son.
Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) states: "One who loves for Allah, hates anyone because of Allah, spends for Allah and holds back for Allah, then, indeed, he has completed his Imaan."
If the person does not have the knowledge about all the religion's necessary aspect, i.e. even if he is a complete and utter illiterate, he must believe in Islam and in the Messenger of Islam (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and not have any beliefs against the necessary aspects of Islam (Zarooriyat-e-Deen).
Whether he cannot pray the Kalima (submission into Islam) properly he is still a Muslim and not a Kaafir. Therefore, if he misses Salaah, Saum, Hajj, etc. he will be a grave sinner, but will remain a Muslim. This is because deeds are not a part of faith.
Whatever is without doubt Haraam (forbidden) and to believe it as Halaal (allowed), and to believe something Haraam, which is no doubt Halaal, is Kufr, when there is no suspicion of a particular thing being Halaal or Haraam or the person knows this.
THE VALUE OF IMAAN
Until such a time a person does not love and respect the exalted Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), even though that person worships all his life, his worship is fruitless and rejected.
Numerous Jogees, Monks and Hermits take to seclusion and spend their lives in the Remembrance of Allah Taala. Some of them even indulge in the Zikr of "La ilaha illal lah" (There is no god but Allah), but they do not respect and love Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). What benefit is such Ibaadah? Allah Taala states in the Holy Quran: "Whatever deeds they have performed, I have destroyed them all." (Para 19: Ruku 1)
THE VALIDITY OF IMAAN DEPENDS ON TWO IMPORTANT POINTS
The validity of Imaan depends on two important points:
Respect for Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), and
To love him above all creation within the universe.
If, at any time, anybody shows the slightest disrespect for the station of Sayyiduna Muhammadur Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), then there must not remain an atom of love and respect for that person in your heart. It can be anybody whom you love and respect, for example, father, Ustaaz (teacher), children, brother, Murshid (Spiritual Guide), Molvi, Mufti, Hafez, lecturer, Imam, or friends, etc.
Such a person should be totally severed from family and community. His name should cause great discomfort to you. His knowledge or status should be absolutely rejected and discarded.
If you accepted or observed silence to his insult to Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), kept good friends with him, did not regard him as a wretched and mean-spirited person, you should check where you stand in the test of Imaan!
STEADFASTNESS IN BELIEF
Salvation depends on the fact that every single belief of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah be so firm that one will remain firm even if the sky and the earth vanishes.
One must have great fear for his belief at all times. The Ulema of Islam state that: "One who does not fear that his Imaan may be taken away, would be stripped of his Imaan at the time of death."
Sayyiduna Umar Faruq (radi Allahu anhu) states: "If a voice calls out from the sky that all the people of the earth are forgiven but one, I would fear that the one would be me, and if the voice calls out that all the people on earth are dwellers of Hell but one, I will hope that the one be me." The status of "Khouf" (Fear) and "Raja" (Hope) must have a balance as displayed by Sayyiduna Umar Faruq (radi Allahu anhu).
WHAT IS SHIRK - POLYTHEISM
Shirk (Polytheism) is to believe someone else as lord except Allah Ta'ala or to believe someone else worthy of worship except Allah Ta'ala. This is the worst type of Kufr.
Except for Kufr, all other sins are at the will of Allah Ta'ala. Whatever He wishes, He will forgive.
A Muslim does not become a Kaafir if he commits a large sin, but remains a Muslim. If he dies without performing repentance then he will still obtain Jannah, whether it will be after fulfilling his punishment or gaining forgiveness. This forgiveness may be obtained at the Mercy of Allah Taalas will or from the intercession of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
THE ORDER OF SOMEONE ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS FOR AN INFIDEL
Whoever performs a prayer of forgiveness for a dead Kaafir, or calls a Kaafir as one who is forgiven or a Jannatee, or if someone calls a dead Hindu a "Bekanth Baashi" (Jannatee), are themselves Kaafirs.

After her divorce, she married Sayyiduna Rasulullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in 5 A.H., when he was 58 years old.

To Proclaim "Ya Rasool ALLAH"

The Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat believes that to recite after every Salaah and at other times, the following verses: "As Salaatu Was Salaamu Alaika Ya Rasoolullah" (Peace and Blessings upon you, O Messenger of Allah), or to recite "As Alukash Shafaa'atu Ya Rasoolullah" (I seek from you Shafaa'at 'Intercession', O Messenger of Allah) is totally permissible.
The following Hadith proves that it is permissible to utter the above-mentioned words. Ten great Scholars of Islam have certified this Hadith Shareef. A Sahabi, who was blind by birth, was taught a special Du'a by the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), which he was to recite after every Salaah.
The Du'a is as follows: "Allahumma Inni As Aluka Wa Ata Wajjahu Ilaika Binabiyika Muhammadin Nabiyyir rahmati Ya Muhammadu Inni Ata Wajjahu Bika ila Rabbi Fi Haajati haazihi lituqda li. Allahumma Fashaf'fi'u Fiya". (O Allah, I ask from you, and turn towards you through the Wasila (Medium) of Your Nabi Muhammad sallal laahu alaihi wasallam, who is indeed a Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad, with your Wasila (Medium) I turn towards Allah for my need so that it may be bestowed. O Allah, accept the Prophet's intercession for me).
Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Omar (radi Allahu anhu) once suffered from a cramp. Someone advised him to remember the person whom he loved the most. The great companion then proclaimed loudly, "Ya Muhammadah." It is recorded that he was immediately relieved. (Kitaabul Adaabul Mufrad) It is an established practice of the people of Medina Shareef to proclaim "Ya Muhammadah" in times of difficulty and anxiety. (Naseem-ur Riyaaz)
A drought, which was known as "Aamur Ramadah" once, occurred during the Caliphate of Hazrat Umar Farouk (radi Allahu anhu). His tribe, the Bani Muzaina, approached him and complained that they were dying of hunger, and thus requested the Caliph to sacrifice a few sheep. When he told them that there was nothing left of the sheep, they still insisted.
After the sheep were cut and cleaned they noticed that only red bones were to be seen. Hazrat Bilal (radi Allahu anhu), seeing this state of affairs, proclaimed loudly, "Ya Muhammadah", in grief and concern. He was then blessed with seeing the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in his dream, who informed him of future glad tidings which did occur later on.
Imaam-e-Mujtahid Sayyidi Abdur Rahman Huzaili Kufi Masoodi (radi Allahu anhu) was the grandson of Hazrat Abdullah ibn Masood (radi Allahu anhu). He was also a very great Jurist and a Taabi'in of high rank. It is stated that he used to wear a long hat with the inscribed words, "Muhammad, Ya Mansoor."
Imaan ibn Jouzi (radi Allahu anhu), in his book, "Oyunil Hikaayat", narrates a strange and amazing incident of three brothers who were constantly engaged in Jihad (Holy Islamic War). He narrates: Once, while engaged in Jihad with the Christians of Rome, they were captured and tortured. The King informed them that if they adopted the religion of Christianity he would set them free. The brothers refused to do so. Instead they all proclaimed aloud, "Ya Muhammadah
." The King became furious and ordered two of the brothers to be thrown into boiling oil. After a while, the youngest escaped from the clutches of his capturers accompanied by the daughter of the King, who was amazed at the piety of the young Muslim. Six months later when they were about to be married, the two martyred brothers amazingly appeared accompanied by a group of Angels. When it was inquired as to how they had survived they replied: "When you saw us being thrown into the boiling oil, you indeed saw the truth, yet as we entered the pot, we entered into the high stages of Jannah." Imam ibn Jouzi (radi Allahu anhu) states that the brothers lived in Syria and were extremely famous. Many couplets have been written in their praise. This incident has been shortened.
Our object here is to highlight how beneficial it is to call out to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). We have seen that the brothers at a time of extreme perils and danger did not hesitate in calling to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). How were they rewarded? They were rewarded with such blessing that the two Shuhada immediately entered Jannah, while the youngest brother was saved and married the King's daughter, and the two Shuhada were actually given permission to attend the marriage of their younger brother accompanied by a group of Angels.
Hazrat Shah Wali'ullah Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu) states: "I cannot perceive anyone besides the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who, for the depressed person at times of calamities, will forward a helping hand." (Ateebul Ghanum fi Madh-e-Sayyadal Arabi Wal Ajam)
Hazrat Shah Wali'ullah Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu) explains: In the august court of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) one should consider oneself insignificant and inferior.
With a broken heart and with total sincerity, one should call to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in Du'a. The person will indeed attain salvation if he states: "O Rasool of Allah! O Unique among the Creation! I seek your favour on the Day of Justice. On that Day when there will be a great test, only you, O Prophet of Allah, would give security from all calamities! I have turned to you for salvation and have my trust in you." (Madhiyaa Hamziya)
More than 40 great Scholars and Saints also believed that it is permissible to call out to great Saints and Prophets for assistance. Among them being Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu), Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu), Imaam Bukhari (radi Allahu anhu), Imaam Muslim (radi Allahu anhu), Imaam Tabraani (radi Allahu anhu), Imaam ibn Jouzi (radi Allahu anhu), Ghousal A'zam, Syed Abdul Qaadir Jilaani (radi Allahu anhu), Imaam Jalalludeen Suyutwi (radi Allahu anhu), Imaam Abdul Wahab Sha'raani (radi Allahu anhu), Sayyedi Ahmed Kabeer-e-Awliya Badawi (radi Allahu anhu), Shah Wali'ullah Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu), etc.
The most beautiful proof of calling to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is in the Attahiyaat, wherein every worshipper salutes and calls unto the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). If by using the Nida, causes one to be guilty of Shirk, then how is it that it is found in the Salaah? Some individuals state that, one does not have the intention of calling to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the Attahiyaat, rather one is merely conveying a message. This opinion is without basis. Therefore, when we are reciting the Attahiyaat, we should not possess this belief, rather we should believe that we are directly addressing the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and sending Salaams to him, upon oneself and upon all the pious of the Ummah.
It is recorded in the books, "Tanweerul Absaar" and "Sharah Durre Mukhtaar" that: "The intention which one must possess at the time of reciting the Tashahud is the concentration on the meaning of this, that is, in other words, one must remember that one is sending Salaams upon the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and that one is praising Allah Almighty. One must be assured of the fact that one is sending Salaams and not merely relaying a message."
Allama Hasan Sharanbulaani (radi Allahu anhu), in his book, "Maraqi-ul-Falah", states: "Numerous Ulema have in fact clarified this belief. There are some misled individuals who profess that because Angels are deputized to convey the Salaams to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), one should not use the Harf-e-Nidaa.
What these enlightened individuals have forgotten is that twice daily the deeds of the Ummati are placed in front of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). In many authentic Ahadith, it is quite clearly stated that all deeds of the individual are placed in front of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), the deceased family and the deceased parents."
Hazrat Imaam Abdullah ibn Mubarruk (radi Allahu anhu), narrated by Hazrat Sa'eed ibn Musayyib (radi Allahu anhu), who states: "Not a day or night passes by, without the deeds of the Ummati are being placed in front of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Therefore the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) recognizes his followers in two ways, firstly by their Alamat (signs) and secondly by their Amaal (deeds)."

The Holy Prophet (Salallaho tala Alaihi Wasallam) is Noor

Some persons believe that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is only a human being and not Noor (light). They say so based on the reason that the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) had wives, had children, and he used to eat and drink.
The Aqeeda of the Ahle Sunnat Wa Jama'at is that he is both Noor and a human being.
The being and existence of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is even before that of human beings, but when he came into this world he came in the garb of a human being.
The Sahaba of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) lived with him and observed him with his wives and children. They saw him eating, drinking, talking, etc. but still accepted him to be Noor.
We know that Hazrat Jibraeel (alaihis salaam) is made of Noor but when he used to appear before Hazrat Maryam (radi Allahu anha) he used to appear in the form of a human being. Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Quran: "Thus he used to appear before her in the form of a healthy (well-built) man." (Part 16, Ruku 5)
Hazrat Umar Farouk (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that once a person came before them. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) asked him if he knew who that person was, he replied: "Allah Ta'ala and His beloved Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) know better." The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said that it was Jibraeel (alaihis salaam).
(Mishkaat; Bukhari Shareef) This Hadith proves that although the Sahaba referred to Hazrat Jibraeel (alaihis salaam) as a man since they saw him in the form of a human being, yet they accepted that he was in actual fact an Angel made from Noor. On many instances, he came in the form of Sahabi-e-Rasool named Hazrat Wahia Kalbi (radi Allahu anhu).
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated, "The very first thing which Almighty Allah created was my Noor." (Tafseer Roohul Bayaan; Madarijun Nabuiwat)
Once Hazrat Jaabir (radi Allahu anhu) asked the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) whom Allah Ta'ala created before anything else. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) stated: "O Jaabir! Verily, before the creation of anything else, Almighty Allah created the Noor of your Nabi from His Noor." (Muwahibul Laduniya; Zirkani Shareef)
Sayyida Halima Sa'adiya (radi Allahu anha), the wet-nurse of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), believed the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to be Noor. She said that when she used to feed the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) milk in his infancy, she never felt the need for a light in her house. (Bayaanul Miladun Nabwi; Tafseer Mazhari).
Sayyida Safiya (radi Allahu anha), the aunt of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) states that on the eve of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) she was present in his house. She said that she saw his Noor became more powerful than the light from the lamp. (Shawaahidun Nubuiwat)
Hazrat Ali Murtuza (radi Allahu anhu) said that when the Beloved of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) spoke, Noor (light) used to be seen emerging from between his blessed teeth. (Muwahibul Laduniya; Anwaarul Muhammadiyah)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) states that when the beloved Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) smiled, then the walls use to glow with his Noor. (Muwahibul Laduniya; Shifa Shareef)
Hazrat Anas (radi Allahu anhu) states that the day in which the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) arrived in Madinatul Munawwarah, everything in Madinatul Munawwarah became bright through his Noor. (Tirmizi Shareef; Ibn Majah)
Ummul Mo'mineen, Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (radi Allahu anha) is recorded to have said: "In total dark nights, I used to put the thread into a needle with the help of the Noor of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)." (Shara Shifa Bar Hashia Naseemur Riaz)
Hazrat Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifa (radi Allahu anhu) praises the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the following poem: "You are that Noor that the full Moon is brightened by your Noor and you are with your beauty and elegance a shining sun." (Qasidaul Nu'maan)
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (radi Allahu anhu) reports: I asked: "O Prophet of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), What did the Almighty Allah first create?" The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied: "Allah first created my Noor (Light) of His Noor. This Noor travelled about according to the Will of Allah. At that time, there was no Heaven, Hell, Lawh (Divine Tablet), Pen, Earth, Skies, Sun, Moon, Jinn or Human Beings. When He decided to create, He divided that Noor into four parts. From one part He created the Pen, from the second, the Lawh and from the third, he made the Arsh (Throne).
"He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one, He created those Angels who carry the Arsh, from the second, the Kursi (Divine Chair) and from the third, He created the Angels.
"He again divided the remaining parts into a further four parts. From one, He created the skies. The second was used in creating the planets. From the third, Heaven and Earth were created.
"Once again, He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one part He created the power with which the believers see. From the second, He created in the hearts of the Believers the Noor of Marifat. From the third, He created in the tongues of the Believers, Noor, so that they can read the Kalima of Tauheed". (Dalaa'il-un-Nubuwwat, Imam Baihaqi)
This astonishing Hadith Shareef proves that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is the life of this world and everything in it. When he is the life of this world, then everything that happens in it is clear to him and nothing is concealed from him. Who then can deny that he is not Noor (light)?

The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat

WHO ARE THE AHLE SUNNAT WAL JAMAAT? The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat is the largest group of Muslims and the only group whose beliefs and teachings are truly in accordance with the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
The beliefs of this group are the same as the beliefs of the Sahaba or noble companions of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and the Salf-e-Saliheen (our great pious predecessors).
In many Ahadith, the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) strongly advised the Muslims to follow his Sunnah and to remain steadfast upon the path of his Sahaba, the Salf-e-Saliheen and the majority of Muslims to remain steadfast upon the way of the Ahle Sunnah.
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "I have left two things behind me for you (the Ummah). You will never go astray as long as you follow these two things. One of these two things is Allah's Holy Book (the Holy Quran) and the other is the Sunnah of his Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)." (Muwatta Imam Malik)
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said that after he passes away his Ummah should remain firmly steadfast upon his Sunnah and upon the way of his four Muslim Caliphs. He advised us to follow this path alone and to be beware of innovations, which contradict the Holy Quran and his Sunnah. (Abu Dawud; Tirmizi)
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Follow the way of the largest group of Muslims! For, he who deviates from this group will be thrown into Hell!" (Ibn Majah)
REMAINING WITH THE AHLE SUNNAT WAL JAMAAT
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) advised us to remain firm with the largest group of Muslims and remain steadfast upon their way in beliefs and in actions.
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Allah will never allow my Ummah to unite upon misguidance and incorrect beliefs. Allah's mercy, blessings and protection are with the largest group of Muslims. And he who deviates from this largest group of Muslims will be thrown into Hell." (Tirmizi)
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "He who deviates from the largest group of Muslims, even as much as a hand span, has himself cut off his connection with Islam". (Abu Dawud)
ABSTAINING FROM MISGUIDED GROUPS The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) clearly warned his Ummah to completely abstain from joining in the gatherings of or listening to the words of any of the other misguided groups that will appear amongst the Muslims, whose beliefs will contradict the beliefs of the largest group of Muslims.
The beliefs of the largest group of Muslims will be in accordance with the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), the beliefs of the Sahaba and the Salf-e-Saliheen.
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "In the period prior to the Day of Judgement, false and deceitful groups will emerge. They will say things to you, which neither you nor your forefathers will have ever heard before. Stay away from these deceitful people and do not let them come near you! Do not be misguided by them and do not let them cause strife amongst you!" (Sahih Muslim)
DIVISIONS IN THE UMMAH
The concept of the Muslim nation separating into 73 sects, is taken from authentic Ahadith such as the following related by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu): "The Messenger of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: 'The Jews separated into 71 sects, and the Christians into 72, and my nation will divide into 73 sects.'" (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Seventy-two (of the 73 sects of the Muslim nation) will be in the fire, and only one will be in Paradise; it is the Jama'ah (i.e. Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah)." (Abi Dawud, Ad-Darimi, Ahmad)
There is another narration which states: "The Companions asked: 'Which sect will triumph (i.e. achieve salvation)?' The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied: 'The sect which adheres to that (set of beliefs and practices) which I and my Companions adhere to.'"
It should be clear from these Ahadith that the one sect, out of the 73, which is to gain salvation, is the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah, the only segment of the Muslim community which adheres to that which the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and his Companions (radi Allahu anhum) adhered to.
OPINION OF GREAT SCHOLARS AND SAINTS Ghousal Azam, Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (radi allahu anhu) states: "There are 73 groups as foretold by Sayyiduna Rasoolallah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and (bear in mind that), the Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat was the rightful group". (Ghunyatut Taalibeen)
Imam Ghazzali (radi Allahu anhu) writes: "The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat is the successful Firqah (group) and it is this Firqa which weighs or determines its thoughts and its according to the scales of the Holy Quran". (Mujarribaate Imam Ghazal)
Hazrat Sha Wali'ullah Muhaddith Dehlawi (radi Allahu anhu) states: "As Rasoolallah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated, follow this 'Sawad-e-Azam', and when the four Madhabs are within the Sawad-e-Azam then the following of any one of them, is followance of the Sawad-e-Azam. Therefore, refuting any one of them is refuting the Sawad-e-Azam". (Aqdul Jayyad)
Imam Sufyan Souri (radi Allahu anhu) states: "By Sawad-e-Azam is meant those who are called the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat". (Al Mizaanul Qubra)
Shah Abdul Aziz Muhaddith Dehlawi (radi Allahu anhu) states in his book "Fatawa Azeezi" (Vol. 2, pg. 4) that: "The various parts of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat in Aqaa'id such as the Ash'ariya, the Maaturadi, in Fiqh such as the Hanifa, the Shafi'i, the Hambali, in Tassawwaf such as the Qaaderi, the Chisti, Naqshabandi, the Suhurwardi, this servant considers all of them to be the truth".
Imam Rabbani, Mujaddid Alif Thaani (radi allahu anhu) states in the second chapter, page 67 of his "Maktubaat Shareef" that: "The way of salvation is followance of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat. May Almighty Allah Ta'ala bestow blessings upon the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, in their speech, in their actions, laws, for this is the successful group.
Besides this, all other groups have become victims of deception. Today, nobody realises how much these misled groups will be punished, however, on the Day of Qiyamah this secret will become apparent. Even though at that time this knowledge will be of no benefit to the misled."

Qadi `Iyad said in his book al-Shifa', in the chapter on the nobility of the Prophet's lineage:
" Ibn `Abbas said that the spirit of the Prophet was a light in front of Allah two thousand years before he created Adam. That light glorified Him and the angels glorified by his glorification. When Allah created Adam, he cast that light into his loins. "
Imam Hafiz Suyuti said in Manahil al-Safa (p. 53 #128): "Ibn Abi `Umar al-`Adani relates it in his Musnad. "
[I have seen this reference myself when I went to saudi arabia last year] In Takhrij ahadith sharh al-mawaqif (p. 32 #12) Imam Suyuti cites it with the wording: " The Quraysh were a light in front of Allah. "
Ibn al-Qattan in his Ahkam (1:12) narrates it in the following form, although `Abd Allah al-Ghimari in Irshad al-talib rejects the latter as a forgery:
[kuntu nooran bayna yaday Rabbee qabla khalqi Aadama bi arba`ata `ashara alfa aam]
"Ali ibn al-Husayn from his father from his grandfather said that the Prophet said: "I was a light in front of my Lord for fourteen thousand years before He created Adam."
Something similar is narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Fada'il al-sahaba (2:663 #1130), Hafiz Dhahabi in Mizan al-i`tidal (1:235), and al-Tabari in al-Riyad al-nadira (2:164, 3:154).
Related to the above are the following reports:
"`Amr ibn `Abasa said that the Prophet said: "Verily, Allah created the spirits of His servants two thousand years before He created His servants. Then whichever among them recognized each other came close, and whichever did not, stayed apart."
Imam Suyuti in Takhrij ahadith sharh al-mawaqif (p. 31 #10) says that Ibn Mandah narrated it, while Hafiz Ibn Hajar Haytami in his Fatawa hadithiyya says that it is extremely weak.
QaDi `Iyad (Rahmatullaahi `alayh) writes a lot more about this topic and I have these quotes as well. I may post them later if neccessary.
Imam Shahrastani
Imam Shahrastani is one of the great scholars of Ahlus-Sunna in the field of `Aqeedah. His most famous book is Kitaab al-Milal wan-Nihal.
Imam Shahrastani in his Kitab al-milal wa al-nihal (2:238) said: "The light of Muhammad went from Ibrahim to Isma`il. Then that light passed through all his children, until it arrived at `Abd al-Muttalib... and with the blessing of this light Allah repelled Abraha's harm" (wa bibarakati dhalik al-nur dafa` allahu ta`alaa sharra Abraha).
Imam Suyuti cites the above in several of his books, such as Masalik al-hunafa' (p. 40-41), also his al-Duruj al-munifa (p. 16) and his al-Ta`zim wa al-minna (p. 55), all three of which were written to show the bases on which the Prophet's two parents are considered to be in Paradise by the majority of the scholars.
The quote of Imam Shahrastanialso shows that Allaah Ta`aalaa repelled the harm of Abraha with the blessings (barakat) of the light of the Holy Prophet - which took place even before his birth! This also refutes the phylosophies of the Wahabis/Salafis against tawassul bidh-dhaat and the Deobandies/Tableeghies against tawassul by someone far away (this is also a wahabi belief).
Shaykh Ahmad Sirhind
I have found some of the Deobandies claiming to be Mujaddidee, i.e. related to the Naqshbandi Tareeqa from Imam Rabbani Ghawth-us-Samdane Sayyiduna Mujaddid Alf-Thanee Shaykh Ahmad Sirhind . Shaykh al-Mujaddid stated his `Aqeedah in his "Maktoobaat Shareef":
"It must be known that the creation of the Holy Prophet was not the same as other humans. His blessed existance was not dependant or taken from the existance of any other. This is because, he was made from the Light of Haqq Jalla when he did not have a body.
[kamaa qaala `alayhi wa `a-la aalihiS-Salaatu was-salaam khuliqtu min noorillaahi] He said, 'I was created from the Light of Allah.' And no one else (meaning nothing at all) ever received this gift (or blessing?)." (Maktoobaat Shareef Faarisee, v. 3, p. 191, Maktoob. 100)
The quote shows that the Holy Prophet is "noorullaah" [the light of Allah] and that his light was created first.
Imam Ibnul-Hajj al-Abdaree al-Maalikee al-Makkee Imam Ibnul-Hajj al-Abdaree al-Maalikee al-Makkee on the light of the Holy Prophet
: Ibn al-Hajj al-Abdari (Muhammad ibn Muhammad d. 736) in his book al-Madkhal (2:34 of the Dar al-kitab al-`arabi in Beirut) cites it from al-Khatib Abu al-Rabi` Muhammad ibn al-Layth's book Shifa' al-sudur in which the latter says:
"The first thing Allah created is the light of Muhammad and that light came and prostrated before Allah. Allah divided it into four parts and created from the first part the Throne, from the second the Pen, from the third the Tablet, and then similarly He subdivided the fourth part into parts and created the rest of creation. Therefore the light of the Throne is from the light of Muhammad !, the light of the Pen is from the light of Muhammad !, the light of the Tablet is from the light of Muhammad !, the light of day, the light of knowledge, the light of the sun and the moon, and the light of vision and sight are all from the light of Muhammad !."
Ghawth Azam Sayyid Muhiyud-Deen `Abdul-Qaadir Jilani
This is a quote from Ghawth Azam Sayyid Muhiyud-Deen `Abdul-Qaadir Jilani on the Light of our master, the Holy Prophet MuHammad . Their are also many other quotes from him and other great and leading Qaadree's of course, but I beleive this quote should be enough inshaa-Allaahu Ta`aalaa.
Ghawth Azam (Shaykh `Abd al-Qadir, d. 561) in his book Sirrul-asraar fee maa yahtaaju ilayhil-abraar (p. 12-14 of the Lahore edition) said:
Know that since Allah first created the soul of Muhammad from the light of His beauty, as He said:
"I created Muhammad from the light of My Face," and as the Prophet said: "The first thing Allah created is my soul," and "the first thing Allah created is the Pen," and "the first thing Allah created is the intellect" --
what is meant by all this is one and the same thing, and that is the haqeeqa muhammadiyya. However, it was named a light because it is completely purified from darkness, as Allah said:
"There has come to you from Allah a Light and a manifest Book." (Quran verse missing] It was also named an intellect because it is the cause for the transmission of knowledge, and the
pen is its medium in the world of letters. The Muhammadan soul (ar-rooH al-muHammadiyya) is therefore the quintessence of all created things and the first of them and their origin, as the Prophet said:
"I am from Allah and the believers are from me," and Allah created all souls from me in the spiritual world and He did so in the best form. It is the name of the totality of mankind in that primordial world, and after its creation by four thousand years, Allah created the Throne from the light of Muhammad himself and from it the rest of creation."
This book has now been translated by Shaykh Tosun Bayrak al-Jerrahi as The Secret of Secrets (Cambridge: Islamic Texts Society, 1994).
I will also post some material regarding the post of brother Tariq inshaa-Allaah. One who reads the posts i mailed earlier will see that Imam Ibnul-Hajj al-Makkee (raHmatullaahi `alay) did not quote the Hadeethi-Noor from Imaam `Abdur-Razzaaq [d. 211ah] as brother Tariq wrote. He quoted and accepted a version of the Hadeethi-Noor from a different authority (i.e. not from al-Imaam `Abdur-Razzaaq, whose version is also SaHeeH). Imaam Ibnul-Hajj also writes a lot more things in acceptance of this subject as well). So it is not permitted to reject it based on the assumption of a modern day scholar against the words of the great A'immah and MuHadditheen of the past.
Imam Khaatim-Hafiz Jalal-uddin SuyooTee
Imam Khaatim-Hafiz Jalal-uddin SuyooTee (raHmatullaahi `alay) Born in 849h=1445g. He memorized Quran when he was less than 8 years old. He taught in Cairo for a long time. He has written about 500 books.
on this subject. He has a chapter on the Light of the Holy Prophet in his book, "al-KhaSaa'isul-Kubra," which is printed in two volumes in saudi arabia. I have personally seen this quote in there when I went to saudi arabia. I am not sure though if this is the same book as "al-KhaSaa'isun-Nabawiyya" also by Imam SuyooTee. Anyway, this is the quote:
"Aboo Hurayrah (raDiyallaahu `anhu), narrates that the Holy Prophet said:
"lamaa khalaqallaahu Aadama araahu baneehi faja`ala yaraa faDaa'ila ba`Dihim `alaa ba`din ra'aa nooran saaTi`an fee asfalihim faqaala yaa Rabbee man haadhaa qaala haadhaa ibnuka AHmadu wahuwa awwalu wahuwa aakhiru wahuwa awwalu shaafi`in.""
"When Allaah created Adam he showed him his children, and he was able to see the excellence of some over others. He saw an wide-encompassing light among the last of them and he said: "O my Lord, who is this?" He replied: "This is your son Ahmad and he is first and he is last and he is the first to intercede." Ref: as-SuyooTee, al-KhaSaa'iSul-kubraa', vol. 1, p. 96 (MaTboo`a: saudi arabia).
All I can say is subhanallaah!
Note: this Hadeeth has been quoted from Sayyidunaa Aboo Hurayra (raDiyallaahu `anhu) and not Sayyidunaa Jaabir (raDiyallaahu `anhu). Please take note of this.
Imaam Fakhr-uddin ar-Raazee
This is yet another quote on this blessed subject by another great scholar of Islaam, Shaykh al-Islaam, Mujaddid and Mufassir, al-Imaam Fakhr-uddin ar-Raazee (raHmatullaahi `alay). He writes:
"innal malaa'ikata umiroo bis-sajoodi li Aadama li'ajli anna noora MuHammadin `alayhis-salaamu fee jabhati Aadama."
"The angels were ordered to prostrate to Adam for the reason that the light of Muhammad `alayhis-salaam was in Adam's forehead."
Ref: ar-Raazee, Tafseer al-kabeer, vol. 2, p. 302. Imaam Yoosuf an-Nabahaanee (raHmatullaahi `alay) has also quoted this in his book, "Jawaahirul-bihaar, p. 455".
Iblees could not see that light and boasted why he should prostrate to a human. As a result of this, Allaah Ta`aalaa made him into the ShayTaan. The angels saw the light and they all prostrated.
I have so many quotes on this subject that I don't know if I'll be able to post all of them. Inshaa-Allaahu Ta`aalaa, I will post Imaam Ibnul-Jawzee's (raHmatullaahi `alay) quote next.
Imam Muhammad ibn `Abdul-Baaqee az-Zarqaanee
Imam Muhammad ibn `Abdul-Baaqee az-Zarqaanee (raHmatullaahi `alay) wrote one of the most famous commentaries on Imam Shahab-uddin Ahmad al-Qastalaanee's (raHmatullaahi `alay) very famous book on the Holy Prophet "al-Mawaahibul-Ladunniyya".
This is what al-Imaam az-Zarqaanee (raHmatullaahi `alay) writes about the light of our Prophet Sayyidina Muhammad :
"`aynan-nooril-AHmadiyya limushaarin liyuhi biqawlihee `alayhiS-Salaatu was-salaamu awwalu maakhalaqallaahu nooree kamaa fee Hadeethi Jaabirin `inda `Abdir-Razzaaqi marfoo`an yaa Jaabiru innallaaha Ta`aalaa qad khalaqa qablal ash-yaa'i noora nabiyyika min-noorihee."
"The Muhammadan light itself is the person of the Prophet according to his saying: "The first thing which Allaah created was my light" in the hadith of Jabir related by `Abd ar-Razzaq and traced back to the Prophet [marfoo`]: "O Jabir, Allaah the Exalted created before all things the light of your Prophet from [the spiritual Enlightenments of] His very [Divine] light[s]."
Ref: az-Zarqaanee, Sharh al-Mawaahib (Printed: Egypt), vol. 1, p. 27.
I wanted to type something about the current issue facing the Ummah today, but have found that all of the mails mentioning that issue have become unaccessible (well to me anyway).
I do not want that to happen to this mail, so I will not mention it (well all of you know whats going on), but pray to and ask all of the readers to ask Allaah Ta`aalaa to help our brothers and sisters who are being attacked by the forces of the shayTaan, dajjaal and munaafiqeen for the sake of His Beloved HoDoor Ghawth al-A`DHam QuTb al-aqTaab sayyidul-asyaad Shaykh al-Malak wal-Jinn wal-Ins `alal-iTlaaq sayyidunaa wa sanadunaa wa murshadinaa Aboo MuHammad Muhiyyud-Deen `Abdul-Qaadir Jeelaanee (quddisa sirruhur-rabbaanee) and the blessed land where he rests - AAMEEN YAA RABBUL-MUSTAFAA' -
Hafiz Imam `Abdur-Rahman Abul-Faraj Jamaal-uddin ibn al-Jawzee al-Hanbali Hafiz Imam `Abdur-Rahman Abul-Faraj Jamaal-uddin ibn al-Jawzee al-Hanbali (raHmatullaah `alay) was one of the greatest Hanbali scholars. He narrates the following in his very famous book of the Holy Prophet :
Ka`b al-Ahbâr (raDiyallâhu `anhu) relates:
"When Allâh the Exalted wanted to create the human body of Muhammad , he ordered angel
Jibra'îl (`alayhis-salâm) to find some pure and clean clay worthy of being used for it. He brought some white clay from the very place where the nobel grave of the Messenger of Allâh is. This clay was perfumed with the water of tasnîm (a great stream of Paradise) and then washed in [other] streams of paradise. (After this the light of Prophethood was placed into it) and this was taken around the Throne and Seat, the Pen and Preserved Tablet, the heavens and earth, so that all their inhabitants may recognise his rank and honour. It is related from him that after the creation of Âdam, the light of Muhammad was placed into his loins and it would glitter on his forehead. It was said to him, 'O Âdam, he will be from your children and he will be the master of the Prophets and Messengers.' When Hawwa' became pregnant with Shîth, that light transferred to her with him. She would always give birth to twins, but Shîth was born unaccompanied as an honour [to the Holy Prophet MuHammad ]
. This was one of the blessings of carrying the light of the Prophet and being one of its forefathers, who were to deliver the light to pure and chaste ladies until its birth. It is also related that Âdam gave Shîth (`alayhiS-Salâtu was-salâm) some advise:
'Your loins contain the light of Muhammad . Deliver this to pure and chaste ladies.' This advise was given by all fathers to their sons, generation after generation. Hence, the light passed through the nobelest of pure women to other pure ones until it reached the loins of its owner, the son of `Abdul-MuTTalib, `Abdullâh."

He says a similar statement in his book on the Mawlid:
"falammaa ayqana Aadamu bil-mawti akhadha biyadi waladihee Sheetha wa qaala yaa bunayya innallaaha Tabaaraka wa Ta`aalaa amaranee an aakhudha `alayka `ahdan min ajali haadhan-nooril-ladhee awaa fee wajhika an laa taDa`ahoo illaafil-aT-hareena minannisaa'i"
"As Adam appraoched the time of his death, he held the hand of his son Sheeth and said: 'O son! Allaah Tabaaraka wa Ta`aalaa has ordered me to advise you about the light which shines in your forehead. You must deliver this to the pure and chasty ladies."
Ref: Ibn al-Jawzee, Bayaan Meelaadun-Nabawee, p. 20. This has also been quoted word for word by Imaam al-Bakree in his"Kitaab al-Anwaar wa miSbaaH as-suroor wal-afkaar, p. 6-7."
Their are still many statements from these and other scholars to come. Please save them onto disk so that you do not loose them.
Imam `Ali ibn Burhan-uddin al-Halabee This is what Imam `Ali ibn Burhan-uddin al-Halabee (raHmatullaahi `alay) wrote in his famous Seerah on the Holy Prophet :
"idhaa masha fish-shamsi aw fil-qamari laa yakoonu lahoo Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallama DHillun li'annahoo kaana nooran."
"If he walked in sunlight or in moonlight he had no shadow because he was light."
Ref: al-Halabee, Seerat al-Halabiyya (Printed: Egypt), vol. 3, p. 381
Imam Mulla `Ali ibn SulTaan al-Qaari al-Hanafi al-Makkee
Imam Mulla `Ali ibn SulTaan al-Qaari al-Hanafi al-Makkee [d. 1014ah], was one of the great Hanafi `Ulama'. He is usually refered to as Mulla `Ali Qaari (raHmatullaahi `alay). He quotes the Hadeethi-Noor, which is quoted in previously from Imam Zarqaanee (raHmatullaahi `alay) in his book, "al-Mawrid ar-raawee fil-Mawlid al-haadee":
"It is related that Jabir ibn `Abd Allah said to the Prophet : "O Messenger of Allah , may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, tell me of the first thing Allah created before all things." He said: "O Jabir, the first thing Allah created was the light of your Prophet from [the spiritual enlightenment] His [Divine] light, and that light remained (lit. "turned") in the midst of His Power for as long as He wished, and there was not, at that time, a Tablet or a Pen or a Paradise or a Fire or an angel or a heaven or an earth."
Shaykh al-Muhaddith as-Sayyad Muhammad ibn `Alawi al-Hasani al-Maliki al-Makki in his commentary on `Ali al-Qari's book of the Mawlid entitled Hashiyat al-Mawrid al-rawi fi al-mawlid al-nabawi (p. 40) said:
"The chain of Jabir is sound without contest, but the scholars have differed concerning the text of the Hadith due to its peculiarity. Imam Bayhaqi also narrated the hadith with some differences." Then he quoted several narrations establishing the light of the Prophet .
Regarding the post of brother Jabir: Well, the scholars only accept things which they have researched and can prove. Their is also a concept known as "talaqqi bil-qubool" which I will inshaa-Allaah write about in a later post with references. Anyway, their is talaqqi bil-qubool with regard to the Hadeethi-Noor from Jaabir (raDiyallaahu `anhu), i.e. it has been accepted through tawaatur by the scholars throughout the ages, as can be seen by my posts.
One should also see the words of al-Imaam Muhammad ibn `Abdul-Baaqee az-Zarqaanee (raHmatullaahi `alay) in post [8] and also the next post from Shaykh al-Islaam `Abdul-Haqq MuHaddith Dehlwee (raHmatullaahi `alay).
As for the comments made about Sayyidunaa Ka`b al-Ahbaar (raDiyallaahu `anhu) - all I can say is astaghfirullaah and a`ooDHubillaah. I will post the status of Sayyidunaa Ka`b (raDiyallaahu `anhu) later inshaa-Allaah from the great scholars of the past. In any case, I really can not believe how anyone can accuse MuHaddith Imaam Ibnul-Jawzee (raHmatullaahi `alay) of quoting something against Islaam from him. This would be a serious allegation.
It is not difficult to accept this belief unless one is a wahhaabee and only believes in himself and rejects the great scholars of the past who defended this Deen from the heretics.
Shaykhul-MuHaddithin Shaykhul-MuHaqqiqin `Abd al-Haqq MuHaddith al-Dahlawi Shaykhul-MuHaddithin Shaykhul-MuHaqqiqin `Abd al-Haqq MuHaddith al-Dahlawi (d. 1052) a the great Indian hadith scholar [who also wrote Tafseer Haqqani] and who was a contemporary of Shaykh Ahmad Sirhind (who was quoted earlier). He wrote many great books and also commentaries , e.g. "Ash`atul-Lam`aat SharH Mishkaat."
He states about this subject:
"It is a reality that the first creation and the means of the creation of the worlds (`aalam) and Aadam is the light of the Holy MuHammad as stated in the SaHeeH (rigorously authenticated) Hadeeth: '(awwalu maakhalaqallaahu nooree) First of all Allaah created my light.'"
Ref: `Abdul-Haqq MuHaddith Dehlwi, Madarij al-nubuwwa (in Persian), 2:2 [Maktaba al-nuriyya edition in Sakhore]
I have reposted this because we have "muhadditheen" on this forum who say that the Hadeethi-noor is not SaHeeH. If they are humble enough to admit that they are not muHadditheen, then they should follow one, and Shaykh `Abdul-Haqq MuHaddith Dehlwee (raHmatullaahi `alay) was not only a muHaddith, but also one of the great muHaqqiqeen. I have so far quoted a dozen great scholars of Islaam on this subject and one should pause and think before saying anything against it.
In fact, I personally would feal ashamed of opening my mouth against it especially if I am an ignorant person. I too did not accept this at first, but al-Hamdulillaah I accept it now because I understand it. I spent time with `Ulamaa' asking questions about it. Also, I do not want to separate myself from the largest body of the Ummah. Please see my early posts on this subject on the previous archive.
Shaykh `Abdul-Fattaah Abu Ghuddaah
This is a quote from one of the recent great Hadeeth authorities from the Indian Subcontinent. Even the late, Shaykh `Abdul-Fattaah Abu Ghuddaah (raHmatullaahi `alay) of Syria, wrote a wonderful commentary on one of `Allaama `Abd al-Hayy al-Lucknawi's works (raHmatullaahi `alay).
Shaykh `Abd al-Hayy al-Lucknawi [d. 1304] (raHeemahullaah) the Indian Hadith scholar cites the Hadeethi-Noor in his al-Athar al-marfu`a fi al-akhbar al-mawdu`a (p. 33-34 of the Lahore edition) and says:
"The primacy (awwaliyya) of the Muhammadan light (al-nur al-muHammadi) is established from the narration of `Abd al-Razzaq, as well as its definite priority over all created things."
'Na mita hey, na mitega, charcha tera'!
Allama Sayyad Mahmood Alusi
'Allama Sayyad Mahmood Alusi (raHeemahullaahu Ta`aalaa) is one of the great recent mufassireen, muHadditheen and muHaqqiqeen of Baghdad. His Tafseer RooHul-Ma`aanee can be obtained from nearly every Islamic bookshop in the wahhaabee controlled state of saudi Arabia, in the blessed cities of Makka Mukarrama and our master, MuHammad 's Madeenatul-Munawwara. Wahabis have often misquoted him again and again against tawassul. This is the habit of those heretical people.
Anyway, Alusi (al-Sayyid Mahmud) in his commentary of Qur'an entitled Ruh al-ma`ani (17:105 of the Beirut edition) said:
"The Prophet's being a mercy to all is linked to the fact that he is the intermediary of the divine outpouring over all contingencies [i.e. all created things without exception], from the very beginnings (wasitat al-fayd al-ilahi `ala al-mumkinat `ala hasab al-qawabil), and that is why his light was the first of all things created, as stated in the report that "The first thing Allah created was the light of your Prophet , O Jabir," and also cited is: "Allah is the Giver and I am the Distributor."
The Sufis -- may Allah sanctify their secrets -- have more to say on that chapter." Allama Alusi also cites the Hadith of Jabir as evidence in another passage of Ruh al-ma`ani (8:71).
I was very fortunate to meet one of the great Sunni scholars of our time, Shaykh as-Sayyad Yusuf Haashim ar-Rifaa`ee (haafiDHahullaahu Ta`aalaa) of kuwait. I asked him about the Hadeethi-Noor and he quoted the following version:
"awwalu maakhalaqallaahu noora nabiyyika min-noorih yaa Jaabiru"
He explained the "min-noorih" portion of the Hadeeth and clarified its meaning. I told him that the Hadeeth is not present in the printed editions of al-MuSannaf `Abdur-Razzaaq (the earliest which was printed only 20 years ago!). He replied: "The MuSannaf `Abdur-Razzaaq has certain 'juz' missing but this man [probably the salafi orientated Habibur-Rahman Azami of
Hyderabad, India] still went ahead and printed it! You can't do that if their are certain 'juz' missing. However, the Hadeeth has also been quoted [and preserved] by al-Qastalani, Ibn Hajar and Zarqani and they have used it [for evidence]."
Shaykh Rifa`i (Yusuf al-Sayyid Hashim) cites it as evidence in his Adillat ahl al-sunna wa al-jama`a al-musamma al-radd al-muhkam al-mani` (p. 22):
"`Abd al-Razzaq narrated it."
Allaama `Abd al-Ghanee an-Nabulsee
This is what `Allaama `Abd al-Ghanee an-Nabulsee (or Naablusee) (raHmatullaahi `alayh) says about the subject of the light of the Holy Prophet : Nabulusi (`Abd al-Ghani d. 1143) says in his Hadiqa al-nadiyya (2:375 of the Maktaba al-nuriyya edition in Faysalabad): "qad khuliqa kullu shay'in min noorihee Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallama kamaa wa rada bihil HadeethuS-SaHeeH."
"The Holy Prophet is the universal leader of all, and how could he not be when all things were created out of his light as has been stated in the sound hadith [HadeethuS-SaHeeH]."
Dr. G. Fouad Haddad, his teacher, Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, and his teacher Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani, of whom he is a khalifa. Most of the material I have posted about this subject is from our dear and beloved brother, Dr. Fouad Haddad.
Shaykh al-Islam al-Imam Ahmad Shahab-uddin Ibn Hajar al-Haytami al-Makkee I still have many quotations but will give the reason for my decission below which will include the comments of shareef/jabir. I might still however post two articles on the support of this subject from the `Ulamaa' of Deoband and from the ??wahhaabee `ulamaa'. This is to direct the attacks of the rejectors onto their own scholars.
Shaykh al-Islam al-Imam Ahmad Shahab-uddin Ibn Hajar al-Haytami al-Makkee (raHmatullaahi `alay), who was the mujaddid, highest leading authority in the Shaafi`ee madh-hab, the teacher of thousands of other great scholars and the Imam of the Ka`ba for over FORTY years, with dozens of `ijaazah's in dozens of Islaamic fields, writes with regard to this subject:
"innahoo Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam Saara nooran annahoo idhaa mashaa fish-shamsin wal-qamari laa yaDHharu lahoo DHillun li'annahoo laayaDHharu illaa likatheefi wahuwa Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallama qad khalaSahullaahu min saa'iril-kathaafaatil-jismaaniyyati wa Sayyarahoo nooran Sarfan laa yaDHharu lahoo DHillun aSlan."
"He became light to the extent that if he walked in sunlight or moonlight he did not have a shadow. The reason is that shadows pertain only to dense bodies whereas he has been purified by Allah from all the bodily attributes of denseness and he has turned him into light unadulterated and pure, and entirely devoid of shadow."
Ref: Ibn Hajar al-Makkee, SharH QaSeedah Hamziyya and afDalul-qiraa'.
He also quotes the Hadeethi-Noor: "Yaa Jaabiru innallaaha Ta`aalaa khalaqa qablal-ashyaai noora nabiyyika min-noorih" - "O Jaabir, Allah Ta`aalaa first created the light of your Prophet from (the spiritual enlightenment of the Divine) Lights." Haytami (Ahmad ibn Hajar d. 974) states in his Fatawa Hadithiyya (p. 247 of the Baba edition in Cairo) that `Abd al-Razzaq narrated it, and also cites it in his poem on the Prophet's birth entitled al-Ni`mat al-kubra `ala al-`alamin (p. 3). shareef wrote:
In most of these mails, their were also other scholars who were quoted in support of this topic. The subject titles of these mails included:
- al-QaaDee `IyaaD, from his "ash-Shifaa'",
- al-Imaam ash-Shahrastaanee, from his "al-Milal wan-nihal",
- Mujaddid Alfith-Thaanee Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindee, from his "Maktoobaat Shareef",
- al-Imaam Ibnul-Hajj al-Abdaree al-Makkee, from his "al-Madkhal",
- Sayyidina Ghawthul-A`DHam `Abdul-Qaadir Jeelaanee, which I will quote later inshaa-Allaah from al-Imaam Muhammad al-Faasee's "Mataali'ul-Masarraat",
- Shaykhul-Islaam al-Imaam as-SuyooTee, from his "al-KhaSaa'iSul-Kubraa'",
- Shaykhul-Islaam al-Imaam Fakhrud-Deen Raazee, from his "Tafseerul-Kabeer",
- Muhaqqiq al-Imaam az-Zarqaanee, from his "SharHul-Mawaahib",
- Muhaddith al-Imaam Ibnul-Jawzee, from his "al-Wafaa'",
- al-Imaam al-Halabee, from his "Seeratul-Halabiyya",
- al-Imaam Mulla `Alee al-Qaaree al-Hanafee, from his "Mawridur-raawee",
- Shaykhul-Muhaqqiqeen `Abdul-Haqq Muhaddith Dehelwee, from his "Madaarijun-Nubuwwat",
- al-`Allaama `Abdul-Hayy Lucknawee, from his "al-Aathaar",
- al-`Allaama Sayyad Mahmood Aaluusee, from his "Tafseer RooHul-Ma`aanee",
- al-`Allaama `Abdul-Ghanee an-Nabaloosee, from his "al-Hadeeqatun-nadiyya",
- Shaykhul-Islaam al-Imaam Ibn Hajar al-Makkee, from his "Fataawaa al-Hadeethiyya"
- It was also mentioned that Shaykhul-Akbar and Imaam `Uthmaan Daan Fodio also used the Hadeethi-Noor - Allaahu `aalim
- - And many many other great scholars not just from the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa`ah, but also from other sects (wahabis and shi`ah) as well.
As for it being "proven" to me that their was not sanad:
1. Well, I am not in the position to judge the reliability of the chain (sanad) of transmittion, so that would not do much for me.
2. Their is something known as "talaqqee bil-qubool" in the science of Hadeeth, which was hinted by al-Imaam at-Tirmidhee in his "Jaami`" and explained by other Muhadditheen.
It means that when something has continuing acceptance by the scholars of the past, it becomes an evidence. This is the case with the Hadeethi-Noor which can be seen from above as having talaqqi bil-qubool. Their are many other examples of this too. This is also called a "sanad" in the science of Hadeeth. Hence it would count as though I brought you a "sanad."
3. All of the scholars who quote this Hadeeth, state: "bi SANADIN `Abdur-Razzaaq", i.e. "it is related via the CHAIN of `Abdur-Razzaaq." al-Imaam `Abdur-Razzaaq [d. 211ah] is one of the early great authorities in the science of Hadeeth. Hence being quoted via the chain of al-Imaam `Abdur-Razzaaq is itself enough for its acceptance.
4. Those scholars who accept this Hadeeth today, have their own induvidual chains (sanad's) of `ijaazah's for this Hadeeth, which in many cases go all the way back to the Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam).
5. As for al-Imaam as-SuyooTee saying that it is unfounded - al-Imaam Ibn `Aabideen al-Hanafee in his section of "Yawmi-shak" stated about al-Imaam as-Suyootee's statement: "it means that the marfoo` is unfounded and that the Hadeeth is actually mawqoof," which is still used as an evidence in the science of Hadeeth.
6. It would be "futile" to use Shaykh al-Islaam al-Imaam Jalaalud-Deen as-SuyooTee against this subject when he wrote so much in many of his books (which I have mentioned in a few of the articles I posted) in acceptance of it. He has a chapter on the light of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) in his "al-KhaSaa'Sul-Kubraa". He writes for example:
"qaalabnu sab`in min khaSaa'iSihee inna DHillahoo kaana laa yaqa'u alal-arDi wa innahoo kaana nooran."
"Ibn Sab`in said that among his characteristics are the fact that his shadow did not touch the ground and that he was light." Ref: as-SuyooTee, al-KhaSaa'iSul-kubraa', vol. 1, p. 169.
Incidently, al-Imaam Abdul-Wahhaab ash-Sha'raanee (ra) writes, "Imaam Jalaalud-deen as-SuyooTee (ra) saw the Holy Prophet in a state of awakenness 75 times!"
Ref: Abdul-Wahhaab ash-Sha'raanee, al-Meezaanul-kubraa', vol. 1, p. 44.
Al-Imaam ash-Shaafi`ee in his "Kitaabul-`Umm" stated: "A Muslim is either a mujtahid (one capable of doing ijtihaad) or a muqallid (one who does taqleed - follow someone elses ijtihaad)."
Many great scholars of the past stated: "One who does not have a shaykh, his shaykh is shayTaan." Scholars do not accept things for the sake of it, the ignorant do. If you are free of taqleed, then keep in mind, you must be a mujtahid. If not, then in the words of Sidi Hamza Yusuf's teacher, Shaykh Murabit al-Hajj, you would be a "deviant."
Al-Imaam as-SuyooTee (ra) wrote a rule of Hadeeth in his book, "Tadreebur-raawee": "Only the classification of Hadeeth given by a HaafiDH (one who knows more than 100,000 aHaadeeth by heart!) is accepted."
Hence, if you know this number (which includes not just the texts, but also their chains), then you are in the category of those who can judge the authenticity of a Hadeeth, and I would also want to follow you. If you are not, then taqleed is binding upon you, whether you make taqleed to reliable scholars or a man who has read many books, which he has NOT been through accompanied by learned scholar, has no `ijaazah's and contradicts the creed and the pratices of the majority of the Muslims, past and present, like nasir albani. It is up to you brother who you follow, but you definitly follow someone if you are not a mujtahid in Hadeeth.
We cannot make an assumption about what Imaam Lucknawee (ra) did in his acceptance of the Hadeeth.
I explained earlier, that I am nothing. However, Wallaah, I am also not scared of anything on this earth. I believe with certainty, that if the bombers of the shayTaan were coming to bomb me and if I called, "Yaa `Abdul-Qaadir!" Shaykh `Abdul-Qaadir al-Jeelaanee (ra) would come and rescue me. I sware by Allah, that if a kaafir walked past me in the street and told me to "shut up" with regard to my beliefs, I would probably break his nose. Please brother, do not tell me to "shut up". This is not the manners and behaviour to be used between HUMANS, let alone between Muslims. By the way, I am not saying that we should break the noses of kuffaar who say such a thing! I believe what the Qur'aan says - i.e., when you walk past the ignorant (jaahil), look down and say salaam (peace).

Aqeeda (True Belief)

Aqeeda (True Belief).......... To think according to principle, to possess true faith and believe and accept the true Commands of Islam is known as "Aqeeda". It is also understood as one's intention, concept and path that one follows. It must also be understood that the basis of one's action is one's Imaan and that the basis of one's Imaan is one's Aqeeda. If one's Aqeeda is corrupt, then one's Imaan is improper and if one's Imaan is not proper, then his Amaal (actions) are useless. In other words, Aqeeda is the soul, Imaan is the body and Amal is the garb. ---... ...---- To have good and strong Imaan, one must have the proper Aqeeda. It is for this reason that we quote a few un-Islamic beliefs together with the proper Islamic answers, so that we may, after reading about them, repent from any false and corrupt beliefs that we may hold and, thereafter, hold firmly to the proper Islamic beliefs. To hold improper per Aqeeda leads to Kufr, whereas proper Aqeeda is strength for Imaan. ---... ...--- The un-Islamic beliefs which we have quoted below are quotations from those individuals who possess such beliefs and by writing them in this book, we have no intention of Kufr. ---... ...---- FALSE BELIEF 1: "Allah can speak lies". ("Barahine Qaatia" by Khaleel Ambetwi; "Yakrozi" by Ismaeel Dehlwi; "Fatawa Rasheedia" by Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi). ---- PROPER BELIEF 1: Lies is a defect which is not worthy of the Zaat of Almighty Allah and is totally Muhaal (Impossible) for Almighty Allah. Allah is free from all shortages and defects thus making lies Muhaal for Almighty Allah. .... FALSE BELIEF 2: To say that Allah is free from place, space, direction and time, etc. is to be misled. ("Izaahul Haq" by Ismaeel Dehlwi) --- PROPER BELIEF 2: Time and space have been created and will be eventually destroyed. Almighty Allah is Qadeem (Always Is and Always Will Be). If one accepts Allah to be in a fixed place and in a fixed time zone, then one will have to accept, Ma'az-Allah, that Allah is a creation and can be destroyed, whereas it is well known that, that which is Haadith (non-Eternal) and can be destroyed can never be Allah. The Being of Allah is Eternal and anything that is non-Eternal cannot be Allah. It is, thus, necessary to accept Almighty Allah to be free from time and place. ... FALSE BELIEF 3: The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) had died and is mixed in the sand. ("Taqweeyat-ul Imaan" by Ismaeel Dehlwi) --- PROPER BELIEF 3: It has been stated in the Hadith: "Verily, Almighty Allah has made it Haraam upon the earth to eat the bodies of the Ambiya". It has also been stated that Ambiya are alive and are blessed with Sustenance from Almighty Allah. ... FALSE BELIEF 4: Every creation, no matter how big or small, is equivalent to a cobbler before Allah. ("Taqweeyat-ul Imaan" by Ismaeel Dehlwi) --- PROPER BELIEF 4: The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is the most beloved Nabi of Almighty Allah. Almighty Allah took Qasm (Oath) even on the city of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He is the greatest of the creations of Almighty Allah. His every word is accepted in the Court of Allah. He is a perfection in the Attributes of Almighty Allah and Allah has not created any unique being besides Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). ... FALSE BELIEF 5: Ambiya are not totally free from lies. To say that it is not possible for Ambiya to lie or to say that they are totally sinless is false. ("Tasfiyatul Aqaa'id" by Qasim Nanothwi) --- PROPER BELIEF 5: Ambiya and Malaa'ikah are Masoom (Sinless). It is Muhaal for them to commit sin. Committing a sin is not a quality of Ambiya. Ambiya are free from all small and big sins and all defects even before and after their Nubuwat. .... FALSE BELIEF 6: The Ummah sometimes supercede the Ambiya in A'maal (Good deeds). ("Tahzeerun Naas" by Qasim Nanotwi) ---- PROPER BELIEF 6: A Kaafir can never be equal to a Muslim. An ordinary Muslim is not equal to a practising Muslim. A practising Muslim can never be equal to a non-Aalim, who is not equal to an Aalim. An Aalim is never equal to a Wali, a Wali can never be equal to a Tabbe Taabi'ee. A Tabbe Taabi'ee can never be equal to a Taabi'ee. A Taabi'ee can never be equal to a Sahaba. A Sahaba can never be equal to the Khulafa-e-Arbaa. None from the Khulafa-e-Arbaa can be equal to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique. He in turn can never be equal to a Nabi. No Nabi can be equal in any way to the King of Prophets, Muhammad Mustapha (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). How then can a Ummah supercede Nabi Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in good deeds? Ma'az-Allah! --- FALSE BELIEF 7: To think of an ox and donkey in Salaah is permissible, but to think of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in Salaah is Shirk (Polytheism). ("Seerate Mustaqeem" by Ismaeel Dehlwi) .... PROPER BELIEF 7: For a Muslim to perform any Ibaadat accepting that it is a noble action of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is the true sense of Ibaadat. If one reads Namaaz thinking of it as the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), then, without doubt, one will think of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). This belief creates in the mind of the performer the thought of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Not only is the thought of the Prophet in Namaaz permissible, it is also the demand of Shari'ah that one must remember the Holy Prophet (salall laahu alaihi wasallam) at the time of Tashahud. According to the Fuqaha (Jurists) it is Waajib to believe that the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is observing you and that he is aware of your actions. --- FALSE BELIEF 8: Any person who says the Nabi to be Haazir and Naazir is a Kaafir. ("Jawaahirul Quraan" by Ghulaamullah Khan) .... PROPER BELIEF 8: Until and unless we do not accept Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as being Haazir and Naazir, the concept of Risaalat will be incomplete. Our Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is Shaahid, Mubashir and Nazeer. ... FALSE BELIEF 9: Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is our elder brother and we are his younger brothers. ("Taqweeyatul Imaan" by Ismaeel Dehlwi) .... PROPER BELIEF 9: The Holy Quran has commanded us that the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) cannot be regarded as the father of anyone of you. How then can he be regarded as the elder brother? Then, to call him elder brother is disrespect and against of Quranic command. We are the Ummati, he is the Nabi. We are sinners, he is the Masoom most pure. We are believers, he is the source of Imaan. The difference here is enormous. It must be understood, that if the husband takes his wife as his mother, then his Nikah will be nullified. Likewise, if one takes the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as the elder brother, then one's Imaan will be nullified. .... FALSE BELIEF 10: To respect the Prophet deeply is Kufr. ("Ad Durrun Nadheed" by Qazi Shaukani) .... PROPER BELIEF 10: The respect and reverence of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is not only waajib, but is an obligation upon every Muslim. Unless a person does not love the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) more than anyone and anything in the world, his Imaan will not be perfected. The love of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is the first condition of Imaan. .... FALSE BELIEF 11: The grave of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is an idol and to respect it is Kufr and Shirk. ("Ad Durrun Nadheed" by Qazi Shaukani) ..... PROPER BELIEF 11: Madinah is more exalted than Makkah; the Roza-e-Anwar more than the Kaaba; and the actual Qabr-e-Anwar is even more exalted than Jannat. PROPER BELIEF 12: Bukhari and Muslim narrate on the authority of Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu) that a Sahabi who was blind by birth was once taught a special Du'a by the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), which he was to recite after every Salaah. The Du'a is as follows: "O Allah, i ask from you, and turn towards you through the Wasila of Your Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), who is indeed a prophet of mercy.
